The purpose of this site is two fold; to force me (John R. Harris.) to write down some of my ideas as coherently as I can, and to gather some feedback on those ideas. This is not an online diary, you won't find too many entries describing my fellings about the day. I will not create entries merely to point to some interesting site or to discuss the nature of blogging. Instead I will attempt to ensure that each entry can stand alone and provide some new insight or analysis, even if the links it contains are broken or it is taken out of the context of this site. To make things a little more challenging for myself I will try to link each new entry to at least one previous entry.
This site is a travelog, it will contain entries about places I have visited, both real and virtual, people I have met and ideas I have found interesting. For the most part entries will be about approaches, techniques and lessons I have learn from my work as a Systems Architect, but I will also add entries about topics ranging from cooking to chess and anthropology to cosmology if I think it makes sense. After all it's my website!
The site is currently served from one of my home machines. I connect to the internet with Asymmetric DSL so I can only serve pages at the speed of a fast modem.
